Post-class activities

The single most important post-class activity is reading. On it will depend a student's final grade. To measure and ascertain the quantity and quality of this reading, students must complete and store in their notebooks the following hand-outs:

• My Reading. Consists of a bar-chart students colour in with the number of Weighted Pages (WP) they've read as well as ruled lines for filling in the name, genre, evaluation and total pages of each graded-reader
• My Book Report. Written in either Japanese or English and taking up no more than 10 minutes, this is a chance for students to describe what they read and how they liked it. A minimum of 3 per month are required for WP counts to be valid -- most students, however, voluntarily write more

The Quick Book Review sheet glued inside every graded-reader are one other indirect way students can easily and voluntarily communicate outside class-time with the teacher and each other about which books they like (or don't) and why.
